Head Girl: Grace Pierce                    Deputy: Laura Lee

 

As representatives of the student body we work daily with the other members of the school community to achieve a balance between living our school spirit and striving for educational excellence. This position gives us the opportunity to embody these ideals thus modelling them to existing and incoming students. We draw on our own past experiences to help and guide our fellow students. Together with our prefect team we have central involvement in all aspects of school life; particularly with clubs and societies, Green School, and the Student Council.

Head Girl: Grace Pierce

• To meet with the Deputy Principal and Prefect Post Holder on a regular basis
• To welcome Parents at school events
• To be available to help at open day and school events
• To support and promote the ethos of the school

Deputy Head Girl: Laura Lee

• To accompany the Head Girl to meetings with the Deputy Principal and the Prefect Post holder on a regular basis

• To ensure that temporary international students are settling in and have all they need to have a successful/enjoyable/productive period in the school.

• To welcome parents at school events

• To be available to help at open day and school events.

• To co-ordinate the First Year Prefect and Mentor team

Green School:  Bronagh Cambell

• To liaise with classroom teachers/tutors to make sure all student possessions are kept in lockers.
• To do carry out spot checks in order to identify areas which are problematic.
• To encourage more recycling in the school.
• To attend Green school committee meetings
• To liaise with Green school teacher coordinator in relation to tasks required.
• To liaise with Green school teacher on gaining a green flag for the school.
• To liaise with the Student Council
• To encourage students to join the Green School initiative
• To arrange for emptying of green bins.

Clubs and Societies Prefects    Eilis Keane and Grace Murphy

Help promote lunch time and after-school club and society events

  • Helping to put in place a structure within the club/society to ensure its continuity.
  • To put up required posters and to take down out of date ones.
  • Attending lunch time events and assisting cooperating teacher with organisation of the same.
  • Assisting with organisation of internal/external events relating to clubs and societies.
  • To organise the rota and to co-ordinate the pop up workshops

Languages Prefect: Mary Heneghan

  • To liase with the relevant staff members to help promote languages in the school
  • To be involved in and help organise language events
  • To promote a positive attitude and languages

ICT Prefect: Joeann Hussey

  • To liaise with the appropriate staff members to promote ICT in the school
  • To be involved and help organise ICT events
  • To promote a positive attitude towards the use of ICT in learning
  • To liaise with the TY technical team
  • To assist with a regular Lunchtime workshop on the effective use of Ipads

Year Book Prefect: Rachel O’Shea

  • To work with the teacher co-ordinator to help produce a Year Book

Sports Prefect:  Emma Johnson

  • To actively encourage students participation in extra-curricular activities.
    To promote the extra-curricular activities by informing students of upcoming events by talking to class captains or the classes themselves.
    To ensure each classroom notice board has a copy of the extra curricular timetable and to carry out regular checks that this is in place.
    To update twitter, website and front hall by assisting PE staff and members of staff who assist in sport in taking photos, gathering information etc.
    To organise and run a lunchtime club with a supervising teacher.

First Year Class prefects:  Laura Lee, Lorna Maher and Aislinn Dowling

  • To be available for induction week to assist First Years to settle in.
  • To assist First years with their organisational skills e.g. lockers, orientation, journals, and rules.
  • To use games etc to encourage the girls to make friends.
  • To promote the ethos of the school.
  • To work together as a team across both classes
  • To work with the two First Year tutors to ensure the girls settle into the school.
  • To assist with strategies to help study technique

Second Year Class prefects:  Shania Weafer Waldron, Fern Finucane and Bronagh Cambell

• To be available to meet Second Years on their induction day
• To work together as a team
• To assist students with strategies of learning and revision
• To encourage students to get more involved in school activities.
• To help motivate students
• To visit the girls once a week
• To help international students settle into the school.
• To work with the Second Year tutors and Year Head and communicate any issues to them

Third Year Class Prefects  Mary Heneghan and Rachel O’ Shea

• To be available to meet Third Years on their induction day
• To work together as a team
• To assist students with strategies of learning and revision
• To encourage students to become more involved in school activities.
• To motivate students at the beginning of the year to have a fresh start attitude.
• To visit the Third Year groups once a week
• To assist students with exam technique approaching Mock examinations.
• To provide advice to students regarding involvement in Transition Year
• To help international students to settle in
• To work with the class tutors and Year Head and to communicate any issues to them

Fourth Year Class Prefects:  Amy Eite and Rachel Brady

• To be available to meet the students on their induction day
• To work as a team
• To visit the TY group at least once a week
• To encourage students to seize the opportunities available in 4th Year
• To liaise with TY coordinator as to needs of the year
• To assist with organisation of Gaisce
• To work with the class tutors and T.Y. coordinator and communicate any issues which may arise
• To help international students to settle in

Fifth Year Class Prefects : Joeann Hussey and Soad Saleh

• To be available to meet the students on their induction day
• To work as a team
• To speak to all students at the beginning of the year about the academic demands of the year and the importance of consistent work
• To regularly speak to the students about study skills and organisation
• To meet with the students once a week
• To liaise with the class tutors/Year Head consistently and communicate any issues that arise
• To help international students to settle in

Sixth Year Class Prefects: Grace Pierce and Laura Lee

To work as a team
• To communicate to the Sixth Year tutors and Year Head any issues which may arise

Once a month workshops: All Prefects

  • To organise a monthly lunch-time workshop in an area of interest for students in the school
  • To promote the workshop and encourage attendance
  • To help set up a regular club in that area if it is feasible,

Well Being Events: All Prefects

  • To organise approximately 5 well-being events through the year that focus on taking

positive, simple steps to help general well-being.
