New Junior Cycle For Parents

From 2022 all Junior Cycle students will engage only with new subject specifications. The old Junior Certificate syllabi will no longer be in use.
The new curriculum attempts to move away from an excessive reliance on rote learning and regurgitation. It seeks to place the learner at the centre of the learning experience. It seeks to focus on the concepts, skills, content and thinking strategies that are synonymous with the different subject areas. You should expect your child to engage in more thinking about the purpose, the structures and connections integrated in their learning. In order to assist them in this manner of thinking there will be an increased level of formative feedback provided to each learner from their teacher.
Each learner will be encouraged to take more responsibility for their own learning with clear structured advice focussed on individual improvement.Your daughter will frequently be working collaboratively with her peers and will regularly engage in reflection activities related to her classroom work and personal learning journey.
