OLG Calendar Changes

Good afternoon

I hope you are all keeping well and looking forward to an end to our current tranche of lockdown measures. I would just like to mention again about how good the students have been in respecting the health and safety measures at school. That is a real credit to each, and everyone, of you.

I wanted to update you on some forced changes to our school calendar because of Covid-19:

Whole School Junior Cycle Day

This is a professional development day for teachers. It was originally scheduled for the 26th November. The JCT have now postponed that day until the 18th March 2021. This means that school will run as normal on the 26th November and the school will now close on the 18th March 2021.

Parent Teacher Meetings

I am delighted to inform you that we ran our first remote/online Parent Teacher meeting on Tuesday last. It was held over Teams and the feedback from parents, students and teachers has been very positive.

Our original dates for Parent Teacher meetings will not stand for the rest of the year. We are prioritising the 6th and 3rd year students in advance of their Mock examinations. The new dates for these are as follows:

6th Year meeting will take place on Thursday 10th December from 4.15 to 6.45

3rd Year meeting will take place on Thursday 14th January 2021 from 4.15 to 6.45

We intend to review how these progress before making plans for the remaining three academic years (1st, 2nd, 4th). We will communicate those plans to you in the New Year.

Christmas Closing

School is due to close on Tuesday 22nd December at 11:50am. This time has been chosen to alleviate traffic pressure on the day.

6th Year CAO Information Evening

6th Year parents are invited to a CAO information evening on Wednesday 25th November at 6:15 pm on TEAMs.  Your daughter is more than welcome to join you for the presentation.

The purpose of the meeting is to outline the further and higher educational options available to your daughter with a specific focus on the CAO application process and PLC applications. We will also look at alternative entry routes to Higher Education via PLC options.  We hope that you find the meeting useful and we look forward to welcoming you (virtually) to the Grove.

Kind regards
