Unfortunately as of today at lunch time a confirmed case of COVID-19 in Our Lady’s Grove Secondary School has been notified to the Department of Public Health HSE. Our thoughts are with those concerned and we hope for a speedy recovery.
A public health risk assessment has been undertaken and the parents of any children deemed to be close contacts of the confirmed case have been contacted and advised accordingly. If you/your child is not identified as a close contact , you/ your child does not need a test for Covid-19, they can continue to attend school, and no further actions are required at this time.
If you/your child develops any symptoms suggestive of Covid-19 infection (such as a cough, a fever, loss or change in sense of taste or smell), please do not send your child to school, contact your GP and begin restricting your child’s movements, as per public health advice.
Restricted movement means avoiding contact with other people and social situations as much as possible. It is also sometimes called ‘self-quarantine’.
Further information on COVID-19 is available at: www.hse.ie
As a further precaution i have decided to keep the school closed until 10.40am on Monday morning. Access will only be granted from 10.30am. Please do not send students to the school property before then. During the summer we purchased a hydrogen peroxide decontamination fogging machine. This machine will be used throughout the school early on Monday morning. It is to facilitate this process that I require the school to remain closed for the first three classes.
I really appreciate your cooperation in this matter. I hope that the seriousness with which we are treating the matter goes some way to reassuring you about efforts to reduce risk of infection at Our Lady’s Grove.
Once again I implore all families to redouble their efforts. If in doubt keep them out must be the mantra, especially as we approach Christmas and hope to spend time with extended and/or vulnerable members of our family.
